Foxy – an eCommerce WordPress Theme
The internet today has undeniably become a very large marketplace. Everyday, thousands of transactions are done online. From digital goods such as eBooks and software to physical products, we always have the option to purchase and find something online. It is sometimes much easier to find online the specific product you are looking for than your local marketplace. With this in mind, most entrepreneurs would try to market their products via the internet. However, you will need a great looking business website before you can even start to sell something. Entrepreneurs with no programming knowledge and experience would resort to hiring of a programmer and spend thousands of dollars to have their website setup for them. Nevertheless, with today’s advanced web implementations, website creation became a breeze. There are a lot of CMS (Content Management Systems) you can choose from to handle your online shop and one of them (in fact the most popular and commonly used) is WordPress. You can choose from a variety of appropriate themes to install to your website and you can start from there.
One great eCommerce/ business theme is Foxy from ElegantThemes. Foxy has a sleek and simple design of elements. It keeps the simplicity without lacking the necessary features of a robust eCommerce website. The website includes one homepage design with a customizable color scheme. It also includes a gallery, portfolio, a built in slider and tons of shortcodes for easily building your site. Check out the theme demo to try out the features and see the design for yourself.
Looking at the homepage, the theme developer did a great job on keeping the theme clean and minimal whilst keeping the overall functionality. First you will be greeted by a large homepage slider where you can put different pictures, may it be a product showcase, a custom gallery or a brief introduction to your website.
Unfortunately, there is only one homepage style available but you can fully customize its looks via the theme’s custom theme editor (check out the ePanel when you purchase and install the theme).
The blog section uses a right sidebar layout. Blog post excerpts serves as navigation to each individual blog posts.
Here comes the interesting part of the website, the Products Page. The Products page is incorporated once you have the woocommerce plugin setup. It uses the theme’s default right sidebar layout and products are sorted via different categories.
The theme has several built in page templates that you can choose from. You can easily put up and contact form (integrated within the theme), use a full width layout for a page, setup your own portfolio, gallery and a custom login page for members.
