This is a review of Enfold, a really cool multi-purpose WordPress theme with a clean minimalistic design. I am quite sure this theme will fit into most website projects so lets have a look at the design and its features.

WordPress has been around for almost 10 years now and millions of websites have been built using this great publishing platform. It started as a blogging application but quickly it turned onto a multipurpose CMS and today it is commonly used for blogs, business websites and even eCommerce shops. WordPress themes have evolved into several niches, but there is a new trend coming up – the development of multi-purpose themes. Themes in this category are true feature monsters and can be used for setting up nearly any type of website. However, they may also seem complex for WordPress beginners.

One of the best multi-purpose themes I know of and that I think is worth checking out is Enfold. It is a responsive WordPress theme suited for businesses, portfolios, eShops and more or less any website you plan to build. Enfold comes with a plethora of options so you can modify the layout, styling, colors and fonts directly from within the backend. Build your own skin or use one of 18 predefined skins right out from your WordPress Admin Panel. Font, background and color options as well as the dynamic template builder will help you create the Website you need in no time. In addition, to the global options you can set unique styling options for each entry as seen in the theme demo.

The drag and drop template builder helps you create complicated layouts easily. There is also a built in ajax instant search that helps users see results while typing in. The theme is translation ready and includes mo/po files. You can build your online shop with its WooCommerce ready structure, add flashy animations with the 2D+3D layerslider slideshow, change color schemes with the color picker settings, unique sidebars for each page/post and an SEO friendly code. There are more features than I want to list up here but you can see all the key features of this theme here.

The theme’s homepage uses a lot of white spaces for the design scheme. You will see a full width slider in the homepage and 3 content boxes below it, much like a typical branded website.

As you can see in the demo there are six extra homepage styles implemented to show the flexibility of the theme. They are all built using the page builder and the many page items. Check out each of them to get an idea of the many options you will have with this theme.

On the demos features page the developer of Enfold have includes a lot of feature show cases. This is a great place to see the possibilities with the site.

Enfold is built with a lot of atention to details, and the header they have is not an exception. Here is a quick comparison of all the available headers for the website. Social media icons can be integrated to the header, which is a nice feature for someone conserving space in other parts of the website.

The portfolio page has several versions you can choose from. There are 7 layouts available for use and each of the layouts are fully repsonsive. The images move to fit the screen when viewed in a smaller viewport.

You can also choose different layouts for your blog page. Enfold has 6 beautiful blog styles. It supports a single layout, posts with multi author, single author, lists of posts from a specific author, and a small and large version of a single author page.

Aside from the robust features within the theme, it also suports shortcodes. With over 20 shortcodes supported, building your website had never been this easy. Just get the shortcode from the shortcode list provided by the theme, paste it in the page or post you want to implement the shortcode and you’re good to go. It will save you time adding graphics for buttons or writing HTML/CSS codes for gallery and content boxes.

Here’s a list of some shortcodes supported:

Setting up a new website with a very feature right theme can be a challange and time consuming task. Enfold helps you get started with the ability to import dummy data. This function helps you build the demo site on your own server and this way you can go into the page you like and see how they are set up.

Enfold is a cream of the crop when it comes to a list of premium themes. It’s a robust and well constructed theme that includes almost all of the features needed by a website.
